L’Shir A Cappella first came to be in the Spring of 2000, with Meara Lebovitz as business manager and Benjamin Rauch as music director. Originally an all-Jewish a cappella group, L’Shir has evolved into one of many denominations. We still call ourselves “L’Shir” which literally translates “to song” in Hebrew, referring to raising a glass, and cheering for making music!

L’Shir has performed and will continue to perform just about anywhere for anyone, in addition to our own concerts.

L’Shir competes in the Intercollegiate Championship of College A Cappella (ICCA). In the past, they have placed second runner-up in the Semi-Finals and won Best Choreography for Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. In the 2018 and 2020 ICCA, L’Shir placed first in their Northeast Quarterfinals! In 2018, the group won best choreography for their entire set, along with best arrangement with Raelynn Giuffre’s rendition of Haze by Amber Run. In 2020, the group won best choreography for the entire set, as well as best arrangement with Lars Boyle’s rendition of Movement by Hozier.

L’Shir loves to sing at private parties and events.  If you’d like to book L’Shir for your event, you can email us at lshir@hartford.edu.
